Roots of Community is the vision, dream, and prayer of our Connecting Grounds team to create a new resource to support individuals and families as they seek to overcome barriers related to poverty and shelter instability. The design for two campuses of transitional supportive sheltering has an estimated expense of $12 million.
Our team was hopeful that through ARPA funds from both the city and the county, faith community partnerships, and private funds, our community could come together to raise the funds in 2022 to make this community-sized dream a reality. However, those public funds were used in different ways including an alternative proposal that we submitted for consideration when it became clear that our Roots Project was not a candidate for funding.
We have not and will not stop dreaming about Roots and what a significant impact it could make on our community.
